Anne-Charlotte Finel in collaboration with LVMH Métiers d'Art

In 2022, French photographer and video artist Anne-Charlotte Finel was welcomed to the world of LVMH Métiers d'Art for six months, getting to know the farms around the world where crocodiles, alligators, calves and silkworms are raised, in order to tell their story.

The 2022 Résidence Artistique introduced a new medium to the series: photography. The objective was for the artist to create a series of works that would immerse the viewer in the very special environment of the parter farms of LVMH Métiers d'Art in China, Africa, France and the USA. A nomadic photographer and video artist inspired by the plant and animal world, Anne-Charlotte Finel rose to the challenge. Her journey between crocodile, alligator, calf and silkworm farms was a perfect fit with her own world, which unfolds as a fantastical bestiary. She spent an intensive six months developing her poetic vision and putting this unique world into images, studying the skin, eyes and bodies of the animals in the early evening light. The installation based on her residency was unveiled at Paris Photo in November 2022.
